Orange the World
UNiTE to End Violence Against Women
IPA Supporting “Orange the World”
The United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE Campaign to End Violence Against Women has declared the 25th of every month as Orange Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking action to end violence against women and girls.
For the UNiTE Campaign, the colour orange symbolises a bright, optimistic future free from violence. Each month, activists, governments, and global partners are called to mobilise their communities, highlight key issues, and take a stand.
The IPA is proud to support this initiative, standing behind the campaign’s mission and encouraging our members worldwide to participate in local and international actions that amplify the message: #NoExcuse – Unite to End Violence Against Women.
Last Year’s Activities – 16 Days of Activism
On 25 November 2025, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, IPA joined the global call to “Orange the World” as part of the 16 Days of Activism (25 November – 10 December, Human Rights Day).
Under the theme “Every 11 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse”, IPA members across the world engaged in creative and powerful actions to raise awareness, including:
- Lighting the IPA Office in Nottingham in bright orange
- Planting orange trees as a living symbol of hope
- Hosting webinars and awareness talks
- Partnering with local organisations to promote the campaign
- Participating in community events, including a striking card stunt to spread the message visually
Many IPA sections proudly joined in by decorating IPA Houses, wearing orange, and sharing campaign messages on social media — ensuring that the call for action reached far and wide.
How You Can Take Action
On the 25th of each month — and especially during the 16 Days of Activism — IPA encourages members to:
- Orange your workplace or community space
- Light up IPA Houses in orange
- Host webinars or workshops on awareness and prevention
- Plant orange trees as a lasting symbol of the cause
We invite all sections to send photos and stories of their activities to the IAC iac@ieb-ipa.org and post them on social media with campaign hashtags to help unite voices globally.
