7 Regions Intro

Connecting IPA Sections – Region by Region

The 7-Regions Project is an initiative designed to strengthen cooperation and connection between IPA Sections across the world. By bringing together neighbouring sections into regional groups, the project promotes the exchange of ideas, successful practices, and joint activities.

Each region works together to support the IPA’s global four-year strategy—turning goals into action at a local level. Through this collaboration, sections identify best practices for recruitment, member engagement, and retention, including opportunities for cross-border events and partnerships.

The project also provides a two-way channel for communication between regions and the International Executive Board (IEB):

  • The IEB may consult the regions for feedback to help shape international priorities.
  • At the same time, regional groups can raise specific needs or propose new projects for the IEB to consider.

While the regional groups are not decision-making bodies, their input helps inform and inspire the work of the IEB. All new project proposals must be approved at the international level.

The 7-Regions Project is overseen by the Chair of the International Relations Commission, ensuring it aligns with the IPA’s guiding framework.
