Hosting Sections Meeting

Overview

The Hosting Sections Meeting (HSM) is an international meeting directed at addressing matters related to official IPA Houses and other IPA accommodation.

The HSM provides a forum for representatives from all IPA Sections to exchange information, review developments, and coordinate approaches regarding the management and operation of IPA accommodation facilities worldwide.

Frequency and Organisation

The Hosting Sections Meeting is held biennially, with the host section approved during an IPA World Congress. Any national section may apply to organise a future HSM by submitting a motion to the IPA World Congress up to four years in advance and at least one year prior to the event.

The organising national section is responsible for all logistical arrangements, including accommodation, meals, meeting facilities, and social programming, in consultation with the SCC.

Participation

Attendance is open to representatives from all IPA Sections, preferably individuals responsible for IPA Houses or other accommodation matters within their national section.

Typical Schedule

The standard schedule for an HSM includes:

  • Day 1: Arrival
  • Day 2: Working session
  • Day 3: Social programme
  • Day 4: Departure

The IEB contributes a fixed amount per participating section to help offset costs and encourage wider participation.

Next Hosting Sections Meeting

The next IPA Hosting Sections Meeting will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2026.
