World Police and Fire Games
The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial international sporting event that brings together thousands of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders from around the globe. With over 60 sports and disciplines — from athletics to swimming, martial arts to cycling — the WPFG celebrates fitness, friendship, and the shared dedication of those who serve and protect.
Since its inception in 1985, the Games have grown to become one of the world’s largest multi-sport events, second only to the Olympics in terms of participation. Events are open to active and retired personnel and are held in a spirit of inclusivity and international cooperation.
👮♂️ The IPA and the WPFG
The International Police Association (IPA) recognises the incredible power of sport to unite officers across borders. As part of our mission to foster global friendship, cooperation, and professional development, we are looking to establish a presence at future WPFG events.
While the IPA Games will remain our flagship sporting initiative — held every two years to bring together IPA members in friendly and spirited competition — the WPFG represents another powerful global platform where IPA members can engage, compete, and showcase the values of our association to the broader international policing and firefighting communities.
Our involvement will aim to:
- Represent and support IPA athletes and members
- Promote the ideals and values of the IPA on a global scale
- Facilitate international connections and blue camaraderie through sport
Looking Ahead: WPFG Perth 2027
The next edition of the World Police and Fire Games will be held in Perth, Australia, in 2027 — marking a historic return of the Games to Oceania.
IPA is exploring opportunities to connect members attending or competing, and to create a presence that reflects our global community.
Stay Tuned!
More details will follow on how IPA members can get involved in WPFG 2027, represent the association, and connect with others around the world.
