International Mentoring Programme

Introduction to the IPA & British Overseas Territories Mentoring Programme

The International Police Association, in partnership with the British Overseas Territories and the Police Service of England and Wales, delivered a year-long mentoring programme from October 2024 to September 2025. Developed following a request from the British Overseas Territories Coordinator, the initiative aimed to strengthen leadership pipelines, support professional growth, promote ethical and inclusive leadership, and enhance international collaboration within policing.

Ten mentees—selected by their police authorities across Gibraltar, the Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus, and England and Wales—were matched with experienced IPA mentors from around the world. The programme combined structured one-to-one mentoring with a series of eight professional development webinars covering topics such as networking, ethical leadership, diversity, mental health, international policing missions, and continuous learning.

Together, these elements created a supportive and confidential learning environment designed to empower future policing leaders, encourage cross-border cooperation, and build lasting professional connections across jurisdictions.
