Introducing #SheIsIPA – Empowering Women, Driving Inclusion
The International Police Association (IPA) is proud to introduce #SheIsIPA, a global initiative rooted in our vision for diversity, equality, and inclusion. At a time when nearly 36% of police officers in the UK are women, statistics show that only 15.7% of IPA members globally are female. This project recognises the need to bridge that gap and create space for women to thrive within the IPA.
We are celebrating the exceptional women already within our association whilst creating bold and innovative opportunities to inspire and engage new female members, demonstrating the value the IPA offers—both personally and professionally.
The #SheIsIPA project is built around six dynamic and ongoing pillars:
- incorporating and promoting relevant seminars at IBZ Gimborn focused on issues that matter to women in policing.
- building an international networking programme, supported by regular online webinars that bring women together across borders.
- providing hands-on operational development opportunities, giving female officers real-world experiences to enhance their careers.
- promoting the IPA and this initiative through a dedicated and growing online media presence, reaching and engaging wider audiences.
- encouraging more women to take part in IPA life and structures, empowering them to contribute and lead.
- Development of an international mentoring scheme, connecting officers with mentors to broaden their horizons and professional perspectives.
Through #SheIsIPA, we are empowering women, building networks, and ensuring the IPA becomes an even more inclusive, dynamic, and representative association for all.
