Dear IPA Members, Dear Friends!
Welcome to the first edition of IPA Connect!
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the very
first edition of IPA Connect, the new monthly
publication of the International Police Association.
The decision to introduce a new name was not
simply a cosmetic change. During recent years,
our monthly newsletter has evolved far beyond a
traditional newsletter. Today, it has become
comprehensive international communication
platform that reflects the life and activities of our
Association across the world.
Each month, IPA Connect will keep you informed
about international and national events, seminars,
upcoming activities, IPA Houses,
opportunities, ongoing projects and many of the
achievements of our Sections, commissions,
teams and members worldwide.
IPA Connect is not only about sharing information.
It is also a platform for the entire IPA family. I
warmly encourage all National Sections, Regions,
Branches, International Commissions, project
teams and all other IPA bodies to contribute
reports about successful events, innovative
projects and professional initiatives, as well
announcements of upcoming seminars,
conferences and activities. By sharing
experiences, you inspire other members
demonstrate the strength, diversity and vitality of
our worldwide Association.
The name IPA Connect was chosen by
members through an international poll. I would
like to sincerely thank everyone who participated
in shaping the future identity of this publication.
The result perfectly reflects what the IPA stands for
– friendship, communication, cooperation
international connection.
One of the questions I am asked most frequently
is: "Why should someone become an
member? What is the benefit?" From now on, my
answer is simple: Read IPA Connect!

Every edition demonstrates the remarkable range of opportunities
available through the IPA. It shows that membership is much more
than carrying a membership card. It is about being part of the world's
largest police family, creating international friendships, participating
in professional seminars,
hospitality, sharing knowledge and experiences, and belonging to a
truly global community built on our motto Servo per Amikeco.
For this reason, I also

Our Future Begins With
Training
In a world where security challenges
change at the speed of light and crime
ignores all geographical borders, there is
one weapon that, above all, guarantees the
effectiveness of law enforcement: shared
training.
This is the spirit in which, every year, the
Arthur Troop Scholarship (ATS) Team
selects and funds the most deserving
colleagues worldwide, honoring our
founder's legacy and tangibly carrying
forward the motto Servo per Amikeco.
IPA Connect , August 2026
What is the ATS and How Does the Team
Work?
Founded to provide opportunities to
access high-level study paths,
conferences, and courses, the Arthur
Troop Scholarship awards annual funds
(up to a maximum of €2,500 per
candidate) to cover travel,
accommodation, and registration
expenses for international seminars.
Behind this massive organizational effort
moves a complex machine, whose
international strategic direction is headed
by Diego Trolese (Chairperson of the
International Professional Commission).
The process of analyzing and awarding
the scholarships is managed on the
ground by a team of 4 dedicated experts
for the current mandate:
Salvatore Del Giglio (Italy) – Project
Lead
Karen Frost (Canada)
Maryvianne Agutu Mudho (Kenya)
Janet Zammit (Malta)

Our Future Begins With
Training
This international committee applies a strict
and transparent evaluation matrix to the
profiles received, working in close
cooperation with the National Committees
of the various local sections. The latter play
the crucial role of a first filter on the territory:
they promote the call among their
members, verify the candidates'
association standing, evaluate the
consistency of the submitted
documentation, and endorse to the
international ATS only those profiles that
fully meet the required criteria of merit and
excellence.
The primary objective of the team is to
support all active-service members of the
association (including the youngest or least
experienced), giving a decisive boost to
their careers and achieving the
scholarship's goals.
The "Gimborn Method" and Global Impact
The vast majority of winners select IBZ
Gimborn in Germany as their study
destination—the castle-academy
considered the beating heart of IPA
international police education.
From courses on Cybersecurity and
operational stress management to
negotiation techniques and combating
transnational crime, participants acquire
cutting-edge skills while exchanging views
with colleagues of all nationalities.
IPA Connect , August 2026
The Multiplier Effect: A Duty Toward
Colleagues
The ATS winner's work does not end when
the classroom lights go out. Upon
returning home, each scholar is tasked
with drafting a technical report and,
above all, transferring the acquired
knowledge to colleagues within their own
department or station.
In this way, the budget invested by the IPA
in a single officer transforms into shared
value for hundreds of operators on the
ground, raising the safety standards of our
local communities.
"The Arthur Troop Scholarship is not just an
award, but an investment in the
leadership of the future."
How to Apply for the Next Call
If you are in active service, have been an
IPA member for at least 2 years, and wish
to broaden your professional horizons
abroad, visit your National Section's
website or the international IPA portal.
To submit your application, you will need:
A coherent study plan (identifying a
course to be held in the year following
the application deadline, which is
always March 31st).
An estimate of costs.
The motivation to become a point of
reference for your department.

Strengthening Skills
Through the IPA Defensive
Tactics Group
One of the newest initiatives bringing our
philosophy of “Servo per Amikeco –
Service Through Friendship” to life is the
IPA Defensive Tactics Group (DTG). This
program is an international network
dedicated to enhancing officer safety,
professional development, and
cooperation among law enforcement
professionals around the world.
IPA Connect , August 2026
The Defensive Tactics Group was
established to provide a platform where IPA
members with expertise in defensive
tactics, use of force, officer survival, less-
lethal technologies, instructor
development, and operational training can
collaborate across international borders.
While police officers often face different
legal systems, policies, and operational
environments, the fundamental principles
of officer safety and effective training
remain universal.
DTG’s serve as a hub for sharing best
practices, new and innovative training
methods, and emerging technologies.
Members have opportunities to exchange
ideas, compare techniques, discuss lessons
learned, and build professional
relationships with instructors from a wide
variety of countries and policing traditions.
This exchange strengthens not only
individual instructors, but also the agencies
and communities they serve.
One of the group's primary goals is to
encourage IPA Sections to identify
instructors and training specialists within
their own organizations who are interested
in participating. By creating a worldwide
network of subject matter experts, the DTG
can facilitate international seminars
(online, in-person, and expand IBZ
Gimborn’s course offerings), instructor
exchanges, and collaborative training
opportunities that benefit IPA members
regardless of their location.
The group has already begun developing
international educational opportunities
through online presentations and
discussions focused on officer survival,
instructor development, and current trends
in defensive tactics.
8
IPA Connect August 2026 — Page 9
Strengthening Skills Through the
IPA Defensive Tactics Group
The DTG is also working closely with
respected training organizations and
industry partners to provide members
with access to current information
regarding less-lethal options, instructor
certification programs, and evolving
training methodologies. These
partnerships help ensure that IPA
members remain informed about
developments that can improve officer
performance and public safety while
respecting the legal and cultural
differences that exist among participating
countries.
Perhaps most importantly, the Defensive
Tactics Group demonstrates the true
international spirit of the IPA. Every
seminar, webinar, and discussion creates
opportunities for officers to learn from one
another while building friendships that
extend well beyond the training
environment. These professional
relationships strengthen cooperation
between IPA Sections and contribute to
safer policing worldwide.
IPA Connect , August 2026
As the program continues to grow, the DTG
welcomes participation from experienced
instructors, trainers, and officers with an
interest in professional development.
Whether your expertise lies in defensive
tactics, firearms, less-lethal systems, crisis
intervention, instructor development, or
officer wellness, your knowledge can help
strengthen this global network. If you are or
know an experienced trainer within the IPA
that would like to be more involved and be
included in our newly formed database of
instructors, please reach out to Education
Team Lead Joe Johnson at president@ipa-
usa.org for more information.
Together, through shared experience,
mutual respect, and a commitment to
excellence, the IPA Defensive Tactics Group
helps prepare officers for the challenges of
modern policing while continuing to
embody the IPA's enduring mission of
Service Through Friendship.

Inside TEAforSHE
A community in motion
In a fragmented urban culture, where time
seems divided into notifications, rushed
meetings, and incomplete breaks, in an
era of deadlines and “fight or flight”
reactions, human connection is often
mediated or replaced by screens or
touchscreens, Thus, the need to observe
rituals becomes a form of emotional
stability, creating continuity and meaning,
as rituals have the power to bring
communities together and organize social
life around them.
IPA Connect , August 2026
The tradition of 5 o’clock tea, Afternoon
Tea, a custom that has become a cultural
symbol, associated with the atmosphere
of aristocratic salons, full of refinement
and elegance, is linked to Anna Russell,
Duchess of Bedford, who, in the 19th
century, transformed a simple need —that
of filling the long interval between meals—
into a true social and cultural ritual, which
quickly became a pretext for conversation
among members of a community, a break
transformed into culture, a setting for
shared presence. Classically associated
with the United Kingdom, tea has become
a global cultural language. In Japan, the
tea ceremony is built around the idea of
harmony and mindful presence. In
Morocco, mint tea is a symbol of
hospitality and openness toward others.
The “TEAforSHE” project is a modern
reinterpretation of this ritual of gathering
and conversation. More than just an online
event, the project creates a safe and
authentic space for dialogue for all
women in the IPA—a setting where
professional and personal experiences
can be shared without the pressure to
perform or conform to social roles.

Inside TEAforSHE
A community in motion
Following its official launch in 2025, on
International Women’s Day, the first
“TEAforSHE” session took place on the
Zoom platform and was dedicated to the
topic of “Imposter Syndrome.” The session
brought together participants from
different countries, demonstrating that,
beyond language, religion, or
geographical differences, many of the
challenges faced by women in law
enforcement are similar. The participants’
impressions speak for themselves:
ERICA VAN ECK, IPA SOUTH AFRICA
The first Tea for SHE Zoom session on
Imposter Syndrome was both
insightful and impactful. The topic is
highly relevant, especially in
professional environments where
many women silently struggle with
self-doubt despite their competence
and achievements. The session
created a safe and supportive space
for open discussion, which
encouraged honest reflection and
sharing among participants. (..).The
interactive nature of the session also
helped maintain engagement and
allowed participants to feel heard
and validated.
NATASHA CALITZ, IPA SOUTH AFRICA
The first thing I realized is that we,
women around the world, face the
same challenges and issues related
to our experiences in our respective
law enforcement environments,
regardless of language, culture,
religion, or race. (…) Most women in
law enforcement come from
positions and environments where
we have to demonstrate strength
and clarity every day, in everything
we do, just to prove our worth—all the
time!
IPA Connect , August 2026
NATASHA CALITZ, IPA SOUTH AFRICA
This seminar showed me that we
don’t have to carry these thoughts
alone. We have many “sisters” with
whom we can talk and who offer us
support when we need to speak.
There is a vast network at our
disposal, especially among our
sisters in the IPA, who can support
one another.
In the same spirit of human reconnection
and building an authentic community,
SHEisIPA is developing other initiatives that
encourage empathy, personal reflection,
and a sense of belonging:
“SheisSecretSanta,” “Write a Letter to
Yourself,” “Blind Date with a Book,” etc.
“TEAforSHE” isn’t just about drinking tea,
but about recognizing that vulnerability
doesn’t have to be experienced in solitude
and that mutual support can transform
individual experiences into a true network
of female solidarity; it is about the need to
create spaces where people feel heard,
supported, and inspired. It is about the
time we choose to give to one another.

TEAforSHE events, visit the SHEisIPA Project

ILDEP – Turning International
Friendship into Professional
Exchange
One of the greatest strengths of the
International Police Association lies in its
ability to connect police professionals
across borders, cultures and policing
systems. The International Learning
Development and Exchange Programme
(ILDEP) transforms these connections into
meaningful professional and personal
experiences.
IPA Connect , August 2026
A recent example from Germany
demonstrates the unique value of the
programme. In 2026, a German IPA
member travelled across several states in
the United States, including Texas, New
Mexico and California. What began as a
personal journey became an
extraordinary professional exchange
through the support of local IPA members.
Thanks to the IPA network, the participant
was able to visit multiple police agencies,
training institutions and specialised units,
while also taking part in several
operational ride-alongs. These
experiences provided firsthand insights
into different policing structures, training
philosophies, tactical concepts and
community engagement strategies. From
local police departments and sheriff's
offices to state-level training academies,
the exchange offered perspectives that
would have been impossible to gain
through traditional study or online
communication alone.
Equally important was the opportunity to
discuss similarities and differences
between policing systems.
12
IPA Connect August 2026 — Page 13
While organisational structures, legal
frameworks and operational
approaches may vary from country to
country, the exchange highlighted a
common commitment shared by police
professionals worldwide: serving and
protecting their communities.
The German participant repeatedly
noted that beyond the professional
lessons, it was the hospitality and
openness of fellow IPA members that
made the experience exceptional. Local
colleagues not only organised
professional visits and ride-alongs but
also welcomed their guest as a friend,
offering their time, knowledge and
support throughout the journey.
This example illustrates the true
strength of ILDEP. The programme is not
simply about visiting another country; it
is about creating opportunities for
learning, understanding and
cooperation through personal
relationships. Every exchange helps
participants broaden their professional
IPA Connect , August 2026
horizons while strengthening the
international network that defines the
IPA.
In an era where law enforcement
challenges increasingly transcend
national borders, international dialogue
and mutual understanding have never
been more important. Programmes
such as ILDEP help build these bridges
by bringing police professionals
together in practical, meaningful and
memorable ways.
The success of exchanges such as the
recent German-American experience
demonstrates that the IPA motto, Servo
per Amikeco – Service Through
Friendship – is far more than a slogan. It
is a principle that is actively lived by IPA
members around the world every day.
As the IPA continues to grow
internationally, ILDEP remains one of the
organisation’s most valuable tools for
promoting professional development,
cultural understanding and lasting
friendship among police professionals
worldwide.

"Creativity knows no borders—
through art, literature, music and
culture, IPA members continue to
build friendships that last a lifetime.”
The Art and Culture project continues to
function smoothly, combining the
organization of traditional activities that
have been programmed for several years,
such as the photography competition, the
children's drawing competition, and
collectors' gatherings, with new initiatives,
including literature, theater, music, and
gastronomy.
In this regard, it is worth highlighting the
publication last year of the book "A World
of Police Friendship," written by the project
leader, author of this article, and
published with sponsorship from the IEB
and the company SELAN, thanks to Robert
Katalinic, a member of IPA Croatia. The
book was distributed as a gift during the
last World Congress in Krakow. This year, a
new initiative has been launched: a
literary competition based on short stories
and poems. The call for entries was issued
a few months ago by the IAC to all
national sections, and up until now, with
the deadline having just passed, several
works have been received from different
countries.
IPA Connect , August 2026
Also noteworthy is the production of a play,
written by the same author as the
aforementioned book, which is being
performed by a group of IPA members
from the Madrid section in several Spanish
cities, and also during last year's FEST in
Romania. It was also performed in one of
the emerging sections sponsored by IPA
Spain, specifically Costa Rica, by a group of
local actors from the police force in the
capital city, San José. Later this year, it is
also planned to be performed in the
Dominican Republic, in collaboration with
the country's emerging section, also
sponsored by Spain. In Spain, an event
called ARTIPA is organized annually,
bringing together in a large exhibition the
works of IPA members who are amateur
painters, sculptors, photographers, and
writers. This idea originated in France,
specifically with the Rhône-Alpes region
delegation.
15
IPA Connect August 2026 — Page 16
Another important cultural initiative is
FEST, which for two consecutive years
has been organized by the Romanian
Section in the Danube Delta, following
the positive reception of the first
editions held in Bulgaria and Cyprus.
The Socio-Cultural Commission has
shown its support for these initiatives,
as it also does for the collectors'
meetings that are organized several
times a year by different national
sections where there are more or more
active followers of this hobby.
IPA Connect , August 2026
Other attractive artistic projects being
promoted by the Socio-Cultural
Commission are the following: firstly, a
culinary project called PoliceMenU,
featuring recipes for some of the most
delicious and internationally acclaimed
dishes; they are also working on a musical
project, consisting of the creation of music
videos with messages aimed at preventing
crime or behaviors that create security
problems for citizens. More details will be
provided about these projects during the
next congress to encourage greater
participation from IPA members worldwide
and further enrich the cultural landscape
within our association. Finally, we would like
to highlight the idea of holding a seminar
at the Gimborn Training Center, entitled
"The Art of Expression." This seminar will
teach interested members various artistic
techniques, such as photography, writing,
and painting (both traditional and digital),
and how to apply these skills to police work
and personal life in a practical and useful
way. Registration is still open, and we
encourage all sections to promote it
among their members to maximize
participation.

Together for a greener future -
nature is saved not by words but
by actions
As part of the Socio-Cultural Commission,
for the third year in a row, the IPA Green
team has been implementing activities
dedicated to the promotion of ecology
and
IPA Connect , August 2026
the environmental preservation. We
started with planting trees, continued
with beach cleaning, and this year we
also included children's education on
relevant topics
The project was well received by the
national sections and members of the
IPA. On a global level, visible results have
been achieved, as numerous photos
arrive at our addresses every day,
testifying to the large number of planted
seedlings and cleaned beaches in many
countries around the world, and to the
involvement of a large number of IPA
members in the aforementioned
activities.
In addition to promoting a healthy
environment, we also promote IPA, as
photos, videos and announcements from
these events are distributed through
social networks with IPA symbols and the
story of IPA. Some of these events were
covered by the media, which will
promote IPA and our activities in the
wider community.
17
IPA Connect August 2026 — Page 18
In order to attract as many sections and
members as possible to get involved in the
activities of the IPA Green team, we decided
that the most active sections will be
rewarded with a visit to the most active
members to Montenegro - the first
ecological country in the world. In the first
year, our guests were colleagues from
Ireland, last year colleagues from Kenya,
Greece and Romania, and this year we
expect representatives of some new section,
which our team will decide on in the second
part of the current year.
Our team is in almost daily online
communication during which we share
information about the achieved results, the
involvement of national sections and
members in the implementation of tree
planting and beach cleaning activities, and
at periodic meetings the results are
summarized and activities are planned for
IPA Connect , August 2026
expanding the project by including the
civil sector in our work (schools, non-
governmental organizations, state
bodies, international organizations).
We stopped counting how many trees
we planted and how much waste we
collected, now we count smiles, unity,
friendship and socializing during our
activities - be a part of our story, join

The whole event was coordinated by
Captain Bartłomiej Majchrzak,
Plenipotentiary of the Provincial Police
Headquarters in Wrocław for the
Protection of Human Rights, who is also
the Leader of IPA Lower Silesia. Without
his great personal dedication and
commitment, the IPA GAMES 2026
Championship would probably not have
taken place in Wrocław.
The ceremony was the symbolic
beginning of a several-day celebration
of sport, integration and international
cooperation. Decorations of the
competitors and medal presentations
took place immediately after the
conclusion of each competition, while
the ceremonial closing of the
championship was held on 14 May at
Freedom Square in front of the National
Forum of Music.
The closing ceremony began with a
short concert by the Orchestra of the
Provincial Police Headquarters in

orchestras of its kind in Poland, whose
musicians have participated in many
prestigious events

The closing ceremony also provided an
opportunity to thank the members of the IPA
GAMES 2026 Organising Committee and the
guardians of the national teams
A particularly meaningful moment was the
presentation of medals by the President of
IPA Poland to outstanding individuals who
continue to work for the benefit of the
Association.
IPA Connect , August 2026
The highlight of the evening was the
presentation of the IPA GAMES 2026 Cup
to the national team that won the most
medals overall. The Polish Police team
claimed first place with an impressive
total of 23 gold, 18 silver and 25 bronze
medals. It was a symbolic and important
victory, as Poland is celebrating the 100th
anniversary of sport within the Polish
Police this year. Romania finished
second with 13 gold, 14 silver and 16
bronze medals.
Despite a surprise spell of rainy weather,
the event concluded with smiles,
commemorative photographs and
lasting memories of sporting
competition in the spirit of the Olympic
motto, Citius, Altius, Fortius – Faster,
Higher, Stronger.
The organisers emphasised that the
championship was also an excellent
opportunity to promote Wrocław and
Lower Silesia as modern, open and
welcoming destinations for international
events.
The IPA GAMES 2026 Championship was
organised by IPA Poland together with
the Provincial Police Headquarters in
Wrocław, the Wrocław City Hall, the
Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian
Voivodeship and the partners of the
event. The organisers thanked all
institutions, organisations and
individuals involved in delivering this
outstanding sporting event. The public
task was funded through financial
support from the Municipality of

"the dream commands life"
~ António Gedeão
Every journey begins with a dream. Discover
how the International Police Association turns
those dreams into lasting friendships and
global connections.
IPA Connect , August 2026
The dream is a constant force in life, as
concrete and transformative as any other
reality. Whenever human beings dream,
the world advances, grows and renews
itself. As "António Gedeão", a Portuguese
poet, wrote, "the dream commands life",
and also our association knew how to
dream and transform these dreams into
real opportunities for all those who wish to
know the world and create bonds of
friendship.
Technology has given us wings to reach
anywhere in the world, but it is the
International Police Association (IPA) that
provides its members with the means to
make these dreams come true, welcoming
all its members with open arms, regardless
of where they are
On the other side of the dream is reality:
IPA, through its houses distributed all over
the world, offers accessible and
comfortable reception spaces, ideal for
both families and those who prefer to
travel alone. Located in different cities and
framed in different landscapes, these
houses allow you to respond to the most
varied interests: from those looking for
contact with nature, rest, the practice of
extreme sports or outdoor walks, to those
who prefer to discover large urban centers,
explore their history, visit emblematic
places and museums. There is also room
for those looking for the sea, water sports
or simply a refuge to recover energy after
the wear and tear of everyday life.
21

It is also in these houses that we often
find associates from different countries,
with whom we share unique moments of
conviviality, creating bonds of friendship
that last a lifetime. In these spaces,
language barriers no longer exist,
because friendship knows no color,
religion or borders; There is only the
complicity of belonging to the largest
police association in the world.
IPA Connect , August 2026
Often, the idea of traveling into the unknown
can bring with it the uncertainty of being
alone, in a different country and between
languages we don't master. However, on the
other side of this unknown there is, and will
always be, someone ready to welcome, help,
inform and advise. Because, wherever we are,
we will never be truly alone: there will always
be an IPA member to welcome us.

Delivering Support Where It Is Needed
Most
The International Police Association
continues to demonstrate that our motto,
Servo per Amikeco – Service Through
Friendship – is far more than just words.
Representatives of the Bergstrasse-
Odenwald Branch of IPA Germany recently
travelled thousands of kilometres to
Ukraine to deliver a multifunctional
ambulance vehicle to our police
colleagues in Khmelnytsky. The specialised
vehicle has been donated to support the
Police Rifle Battalion of the Main Directorate
of the National Police in the Khmelnytsky
region and will serve on one of the most
demanding front-line deployments in the
Donetsk region.
This important humanitarian initiative was
made possible through the outstanding
commitment of IPA Germany, the
Bergstrasse-Odenwald Branch, the
National Police of Khmelnytsky and the
regional Dynamo Sports Society, working
together to provide practical assistance
where it is needed most.
The International Executive Board was
pleased to support this project with a
contribution of €2,000 from the Ukraine

Strengthening
International Partnerships
The International Relations Commission
continues to strengthen IPA's presence on
the global stage by building strategic
partnerships and fostering cooperation
with international organisations and law
enforcement stakeholders. Through active
engagement and dialogue, the
Commission works to identify new
opportunities for collaboration that
support the Association's mission and
values. A key area of focus is expanding
relationships with organisations such as
the Council of Europe, the United Nations,
Collaboration is at the heart of
and other international bodies whose work

The Commission also continues to explore
new partnerships through Memoranda of
Understanding (MoUs), creating
opportunities for knowledge exchange,
joint initiatives and mutual support.
By developing these relationships, the
Commission aims to enhance professional
networking, promote best practice, and
increase opportunities for IPA members to
participate in international programmes,
seminars and collaborative projects. These
partnerships not only strengthen IPA's

Building a Stronger Global IPA
Brand
Discover how the International Marketing
Team is driving collaboration, consistency,
and innovation to strengthen the
International Police Association's global
identity and future.
The International marketing team
hosted by IPA Italy in Naples at the last
physical meeting in April 2026.
IPA Connect , August 2026
Two years ago, at the International Police
Association (IPA), we embarked on an
ambitious strategy designed to
introduce a fresh and more coordinated
approach to marketing across our
global organisation. Recognising the
importance of effective communication
and brand consistency in a modern,
interconnected world, we established an
International Marketing Team to help
strengthen the visibility and impact of
the IPA worldwide.
The team is led by Emma Jane Dallison
and comprises dedicated members
from a variety of IPA Sections around the
globe. These individuals bring with them
a wealth of professional skills, marketing
expertise, creative experience, and,
importantly, a genuine passion for
promoting the values and activities of
the IPA. By bringing together
representatives from different countries
and cultures, we have created a diverse
and collaborative team capable of
sharing ideas, best practices, and
innovative approaches to
communication.
One of our greatest challenges has been
ensuring that our message reaches and
resonates with all 68 IPA Sections around
the world. With such a broad
international network, effective
communication can be complex. To
address this, we have worked to appoint
dedicated Marketing Representatives
within the majority of our Sections. These
representatives act as key points of
contact and serve as vital links between
the International Marketing Team and
their respective Sections. Their role is to
facilitate the sharing of information,
support local marketing initiatives, and
help ensure that international
campaigns and messaging are
effectively implemented at a local level.
25
IPA Connect August 2026 — Page 26
IPA Marketing
A core objective of the Marketing Team is
to encourage collaboration and the
exchange of knowledge across the
organisation.
Sharing experiences, successful
campaigns, creative resources, and
practical skills, we can collectively
enhance the way the IPA presents itself to
members, potential members, partners,
and the wider public. This collaborative
approach will help strengthen our visual
identity and ensure that the organisation
is represented professionally and
consistently across all platforms.
An important milestone in this journey
has been the development of the IPA
Brand Guidelines. These guidelines were
created by the dedicated staff at Fox
Road in Nottingham and provide a
comprehensive framework for the use of
our visual identity, including the newly
designed logos, colours, typography,
imagery, and overall communication
standards. The guidelines are designed to
help every Section communicate with a
unified voice while still allowing flexibility
to reflect local cultures and activities.
With the support of the International
Marketing Team, we want to emphasise
the importance of adopting and
implementing these Brand Guidelines
IPA Connect , August 2026
throughout all Sections. Consistent
branding is more than simply using the
correct logo or colours; it is about
creating a recognisable and trusted
Brand Guidelines
identity that reflects the values,
professionalism, and international
reach of the IPA. When all Sections align
with the same visual and
communication standards, we
strengthen the collective image of our
organisation and present a clearer,
more powerful message to current and
future members.
As we continue to develop our
marketing strategy, our focus remains
on collaboration, communication, and
consistency. By working together,
sharing expertise, and embracing a
unified brand identity, we can ensure
that the International Police Association
continues to grow in visibility, relevance,
and impact across the world. Together,
we can create a stronger, more
recognisable global presence that
reflects the spirit of friendship and
cooperation that lies at the heart of the
IPA.

From 1–30 June 2026, the IPA Socio-
Cultural Commission organised the IPA
Beach Clean-Up Initiative, encouraging
National Sections, branches, and individual
members to support the environment in
celebration of World Environment Day (5
June).
The initiative invited members to come
together to help preserve the cleanliness of
our coastlines while raising awareness of
the importance of protecting our oceans
and natural environment. It also provided
an excellent opportunity to strengthen
friendships, engage with local
communities, and demonstrate the IPA's
commitment to environmental
responsibility.
We are delighted that 12 National Sections
took part in this year's initiative, with
members volunteering their time to
remove litter from beaches and coastal
areas. Their efforts made a valuable
contribution to protecting wildlife and
keeping our coastlines clean for everyone
to enjoy.

True to our motto, "Servo per Amikeco –
Service Through Friendship," IPA members
are committed not only to professional
exchange but also to providing assistance
wherever it is most urgently needed.
In close cooperation with IPA Kenya,
several humanitarian support initiatives
for children's homes in Nairobi have
already been carried out over the past
few months. The focus has not been on
one-off donations but on building a
relationship based on trust, continuity,
and long-term partnership.
Our commitment begins long before
donations are handed over. From the
initial planning and purchasing of supplies
to the personal delivery of food, clothing,
and other urgently needed items, every
stage of each project is accompanied by
our partners on the ground. This ensures
that every donation reaches those who
need it most, directly and without
unnecessary intermediaries.
A particularly moving moment was a
return visit to Kawangware Children's
Home on the outskirts of Nairobi. During
my first visit, I made a promise to the
children and the staff: "I will come back."
This promise has now been fulfilled.
The home's director, Moses, summed up
the significance of this moment with a
simple but powerful statement:
You are the first white person who
kept his promise and actually came
back.

Supporting Children's
Homes in Nairobi –
Together with IPA Kenya
These words remind us that humanitarian
support is about far more than providing
material assistance. It is built on trust,
reliability, and genuine care for people.
Returning again and again creates lasting
relationships that inspire hope and make
a real, sustainable difference.
None of these projects would have been
possible without the generous support of
many donors and the close cooperation
between IPA Germany and IPA Kenya. Our
sincere thanks go to everyone who has
contributed to making these initiatives a
success.
The joint projects will continue in the
future. Our aim is to support children's
homes in Nairobi on a long-term basis
and to provide regular assistance
wherever it is needed most.
Because sometimes the greatest gift we
can offer is not only food or clothing, but
the confidence that a promise will be kept
—and that words can become reality.

The first stage of the programme took
place in Jesolo, on the Adriatic coast,
where the children enjoyed the sea,
beaches, swimming pools, sports
activities, and excursions organised with
the support of the Ukrainian community
in Italy and the PONTE MICT Association.
The second stage of the programme
was held in Marostica, where the
children discovered the rich cultural
heritage of northern Italy. They visited
the picturesque town of Bassano del
Grappa, admired the famous Ponte degli
Alpini, explored Piazza Libertà, and visited
the historic Church of Saint John the
Baptist.
Their stay also included visits to the
famous Chess Square of Marostica,
creative art workshops with local artists,
hiking trips, evenings with Italian families,
and a special dinner hosted by
members of the legendary Alpini, the
Italian Army's mountain troops.

Ukraine
Every activity reflected the warmth and
generosity of the local community.
Later, the group moved to Lupia, near
Sandrigo, where they continued their
rehabilitation through outdoor activities,
sports, sightseeing, and friendship with
Italian children. During this period, they
also welcomed distinguished guests,
including representatives of IPA Vicenza,
local authorities and volunteers.
The programme concluded with an
unforgettable excursion to Venice, where
the children walked through the city's
famous canals and historic streets,
visited St. Mark's Square, admired the
magnificent Basilica and Bell Tower, and
learned about the history of one of the
world's most beautiful cities.

For these children, the journey was much
more than sightseeing. It was an
opportunity to recover emotionally, build
new friendships, and experience kindness
from people they had never met before.

United

Collectors Event
On 10 May 2026, I had the opportunity to
attend the Conference on Police,
Firefighters and Emergency Services
Collecting, organised and hosted by
Matias and colleagues from IPA Alicante.
The event brought together members
with a shared interest in collecting
memorabilia from the emergency
services, both past and present. My main
focus was on police patches and
challenge coins, two areas of collecting
that continue to grow in popularity
among colleagues here in Northern
Ireland, while having long-established
followings throughout the United
Kingdom and the United States.
The origins of challenge coins can be
traced back to the military, where
specially designed coins were presented
to recognise service, achievements, or
membership of a particular unit. Over
time, their use spread to police, fire and
emergency services organisations
around the world. Similarly, police patch
collecting has been a popular hobby for
decades, allowing officers and
enthusiasts to exchange insignia and
learn about the history, traditions and
identities of different agencies. Today,
both challenge coins and patches are
highly sought-after collectibles and serve
as symbols of camaraderie and
professional connection.
IPA Connect , August 2026
The conference was held in Benidorm and
attracted a large number of attendees
from across Spain, alongside myself
representing Northern Ireland. Throughout
the day, I had the opportunity to meet
many members of IPA Spain, exchange
stories about policing and life at home,
and trade a number of patches and
challenge coins from my collection from
both the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Events such as these continue to increase
in popularity, with similar conferences
having been organised in Great Britain,
the Netherlands, Poland and Italy, among
other countries. They provide a unique
opportunity for members to meet fellow
collectors, strengthen international
friendships and learn more about the
traditions and heritage of emergency
services around the world.
IPA Spain's Madrid Region will be hosting a
similar event in the near future. This
promises to be another excellent
opportunity for members to meet
colleagues from across Europe, exchange
items from their collections and enjoy a
visit to Madrid while fostering the spirit of
international friendship that lies at the
heart of the IPA.
