Esbjerg is a seaport town established in 1868 on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in the southwest of Denmark. By road, it is 71 kilometres west of Kolding and 164 kilometres southwest of Aarhus. With a population of 71,618, it is the sixth-largest city in Denmark, and the largest in West Jutland. IPA Center Esbjerg was originally built as a children’s sanatorium by the Copenhagen Teachers’ Association in 1925, and was designed to house 60 Copenhagen schoolgirls between the age of 10-12, who needed sun and fresh sea air.

IPA Esbjerg took over the house in 1987 and following extensive renovations, the property was reopened in1988 as an IPA house with the participation of IPA founder Arthur Troop. The house has 10 rooms over 2 floors with a total of 24 beds. Toilet and shower are located on both floors. There is a kitchen with a dishwasher, electric and gas stove, fridge / freezer, coffee machine and microwave. The dining room accommodates 24 people, and in addition, there is a banquet hall with space for around 100 people, as well as a bar with draft beer. In the basement there is a small living room with TV / video, as well as a room with air hockey and football. TVs are also available in the dining room and bar. There is a garden and an enclosed terrace with tables, benches and a barbecue/grill. Free wireless internet facilities are also available.
