English language skills are a prerequisite for participation in the seminar. For more complex content, there is language support from the seminar instructor, who speaks fluent German.
During the OSINT Basic Course, participants will acquire the basic skills necessary to conduct a good investigation on the Internet. At the end of the course, participants will be able to research the Internet, interpret the information they find and then present it in the right context. By the end of this course, participants will have gained an insight into the possibilities of digital research. They will have learnt how to use search engines effectively, how to examine images and email headers, and will have taken their first steps in social media research. You will know how to search websites, where to request data and what techniques are available to work anonymously.
No special computer skills are required for this course. We recommend that people with experience of open source research take the advanced course. It is important that participants bring their own end device (laptop) with them.
