IPA Japan Friendship Judo Week 2027

Experience Japanese Policing Through Judo – IPA Japan Friendship Judo Week 2027

25–30 January 2027 | Yokohama & Kamakura, Japan

IPA Section Japan warmly invites IPA members from around the world to take part in the Friendship Judo Week 2027 – a unique opportunity to experience Japanese policing, culture and martial arts in the birthplace of judo.

Open exclusively to serving police officers who are IPA members and hold the rank of Shodan, Nidan or Sandan (1st–3rd Degree), this six-day programme combines intensive judo training with exclusive visits to police facilities and some of Japan’s most iconic cultural sites.

Participants will have the rare opportunity to visit the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Headquarters, observe specialist tactical arrest-technique training, attend judo practice sessions with Japanese police officers, and visit the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Academy, including a rehearsal for the graduation ceremony. The programme also includes participation in the New Year Budo Opening Ceremony, judo matches with local practitioners, and visits to a police station and police box, complete with a police car and motorcycle experience.

Beyond the dojo, delegates will explore the historic city of Kamakura, including the famous Great Buddha, train at the historic dojo of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, and enjoy a farewell tour of the beautiful island of Enoshima.

The participation fee is ¥91,000 for single occupancy and includes:

  • Five nights’ accommodation with breakfast.
  • Selected lunches and dinners throughout the programme.
  • Local transportation between venues and sightseeing locations.
  • All official activities and judo training sessions.

Participants wishing to share a room with an accompanying person should indicate this on their application so that double occupancy arrangements can be made.

Places are limited to just eight participants, ensuring an enjoyable and personal experience. If more than eight applications are received, participants will be selected by lottery.

Applications must be submitted by 30 September 2026 and should include a completed application form together with a copy of your valid IPA membership card. Successful applicants will be notified by 10 October 2026.

To apply, email your application to rsuzuki@rose.plala.or.jp.

Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity to train alongside Japanese police officers, strengthen international friendships, experience authentic Japanese culture, and live the IPA motto Servo per Amikeco – Service Through Friendship.
