9th of December 2026, Venlo (The Netherlands)
On Wednesday the 9th of December 2026, the fifth edition of the IPA Blue Light Ride will take place. This wonderful event is organised by the Dutch IPA district Limburg-Noord.
On that day, an impressive convoy of some 100 emergency vehicles will drive through the north of the province of Limburg under police escort. Along the way, they will pass healthcare facilities to support the patients en care workers in these dark December days.
The convoy will end at VieCuri Medical Centre in Venlo. Here, one of the patients from the children’s ward may count down after which the dark car parking turns into a sea of blue light. The deafening sound of sirens, a police helicopter circling and lifeboats on the nearby river make this a magical spectacle. A spectacle that hopefully makes sick children and their family forget all the misery for a moment.
Last year we had police officers from The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland and and the United Kingdom attended. IPA members from other countries are more than welcome to attend this event (preferably with a vehicle).
